Custom Design Process
Cy Fredrics Jewelers takes great pride and excitement in our custom design pieces. We love to create and work with our customers to bring one of a kind items to life. We can custom design jewelry from scratch or create using your old gold, diamonds, and precious stones. The following is a brief overview of our custom design process coupled with an example of each step:
- The design process always begins with an idea or a concept. The first step is brainstorming ideas, collaborating, and reviewing specific elements you want incorporated into your new piece. We can also look at other pieces to get ideas and integrate elements into the new piece.
- The next step after coming up with an idea of what you want your piece to look like is creating a rough sketch. The rough sketch is a basic design outline showing multiple views and a profile of the basic look of the item. [A]
- After creating a rough sketch we will finalize an official hand rendered sketch. This hand rendering is colored and has precise measurements with official diamond and stone counts. The hand rendered sketch is a nice visual to help grasp the complete look of the piece.
- We here at Cy Fredrics utilize the latest and newest technology in order to bring our customers the best product possible. The next few steps in our process really highlight the best technology available. Following brainstorming and creating sketches we create you a computer aided “CAD image.” A CAD image is a 3D virtual image of the piece we’re creating. You can view the design from every angle. The digital image is very detailed and very exact in all specifications. [B]
- Next is the approval process where the customer OK’s the official virtual image design. This stage in the process is also when we can make any changes necessary before the physical creation process begins. [C]
- Finally after honing in on the exact piece that you’ve visualized we bring your dreams to life! We cast the piece in the metal of your choice, set all diamonds and stones, clean, and polish. This step is where the piece is physically created as a finished piece.
